This helmet was worn by Captain John W. Kiley during Operation Market Garden. He covered up his white captain's bars with OD paint prior to the jump, the helmet also carries his white officer's strip on the rear. John Kiley was a veteran of the 506th P.I.R. since its formation in Toccoa, Georgia and jumped into Normandy as a first lieutenant in the capacity of executive officer for I Company 506. He took command of the company itself when the commanding officer was captured and led them at the Battle of Bloody Gully. For his actions in Normandy, Lt. Kiley won the Bronze Star medal. After Normandy he was promoted to the rank of Captain and jumped into Holland as the S-3 for 3/506 just days after his 25th birthday. Captain John W. Kiley was sadly shot and killed by a German sniper on the street at the Vlokhovensche Weg during the assault on Eindhoven on the morning of September 18th 1944. He is buried among his fellow troopers at the American Cemetery Margraten in the Netherlands. |

| This is the helmet of Cpl. Bob F. Metcalf. Bob enlisted in the Marines at 17 years of age in the summer of 1943 after turning down a nomination to West Point by his Kansas congressman. He graduated from USMC Ordinance Supply School in San Francisco, CA shortly thereafter. Cpl. Metcalf would see action with the 4th Marine Division on the island of Saipan and turn 19 while on the island. Later his ordinance supply unit would be attached to the 3rd Marine Division for the assault on Iwo Jima where he would land on D+6. Cpl. Metcalf was wounded and received the Purple Heart Medal as well as several other service medals. He was discharged in 1946 and would go on to serve honorably in the Korean War with the 1st Marine Division |

This helmet belonged to Pvt. Howard R. Radford of the 2nd Armored Division. He enlisted on February 13, 1943 at 18 years of age. He resided in Summit County, Ohio at the time of his enlistment. He died October 8th, 1992 in Washington State. His name is scratched into the side of the liner.

| This helmet belonged to Tommy C. Stamos, 64th Field Artillery, 25th Infantry Division. It features a nice Westinghouse camo liner. |

5th Ranger batallion NCO helmet. The chinstrap bears the laundry mark N-1543. This helmet belonged to John M. Nenna, ASN 20101543, who served with D Company. The helmet was bought for approximately $24.-from an elderly lady in the area of Arlon, Belgium in the 90's. Arlon is located on the south part of Belgium, only a few miles from the village of Differt where the 5th Ranger was located in 1944. Submitted by Richard - Belgium |
